THE WINDOW GUIDE

A style for every
point of view.

Start with how you want your space to look and function. Here are three common window styles to get to know.

01 / CLASSIC & FLEXIBLE

Double-hung

Two sashes move up and down, giving you different ways to open the window.

What to consider

Check which sashes open, how the window locks, and whether the design allows easy cleaning.

02 / OPEN TO THE OUTSIDE

Casement

Hinged at the side, a casement window opens outward, usually with a crank.

What to consider

Allow clearance outside and check how the opening works around paths, landscaping, and screens.

03 / FRAME THE VIEW

A fixed window creates an uninterrupted view. It does not open for ventilation.

What to consider

Consider nearby opening windows, cleaning access, and the room’s ventilation and safety requirements.

The style is just the start.

Materials, glazing, fit, and installation matter too.
